I first met glass at a stained glass workshop around 2010 & loved how the light reflected through the glass. I appreciate that there are many wonderful stained glass art pieces around the world, but I felt 'restricted' by (my perception of) the limited outcomes. I then attended a kiln formed workshop to make some glass coasters. I was hooked! I saw the possibilities of creating different effects & textures with the glass. I retired from corporate life in 2016 & immediately bought a kiln. Since then I have been designing & creating glass art in my home studio, in Stony Stratford, Buckinghamshire.
I have been lucky enough to have been tutored by a number of internationally known artists, including Bob Leatherbarrow, Alison Lowry, Saman Kalantari & Silvia Levenson.
I have started exploring the fascinating artistic process of printmaking; but glass remains my primary medium. I hope to continue to develop my printmaking techniques & explore ways to include printmaking into my glass designs.
I enjoy being part of the creative community too. Here are some of the organisations that I am part of:
-
Buckinghamshire Craft Guild - member. The Guild was set up in 2017 to promote the best in designer & contemporary crafts in Buckinghamshire.
-
Visual Images Group (organisers of Bucks Art Weeks, an annual event across Buckinghamshire) - member & Chair.
-
Buckingham Art for All - member.
